Martin J. Rickard

Martin J. Rickard, age 55, of Lake Havasu City,  AZ, formerly of Chambers, was called home to be with our Lord on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, as the result of a work-related accident.

A memorial service of celebration was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Abundant Grace Church in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Martin was born on Oct. 30, 1957, in Atkinson, to Bernard and Doris (Reiselt) Rickard. He lived in Chambers and graduated from Chambers High School.

On Aug. 7, 1980, Marty married his high school sweetheart, Shelda (Shelly) Strong. They relocated from Nebraska to Lake Havasu City, AZ, 16 years ago.

Marty was a qualified electrician but could do almost any kind of mechanical work. He was a loyal employee of Fayette Heating and Air for the past 10 years. He loved both his work and those with whom he worked with and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Those close to Marty loved his sense of humor and fun loving ways. He was a man of strong faith, even when sorely tested in difficult times. His relationship with Jesus stood strong and his hopes were to meet all his loved ones in Heaven one day. Marty loved his family dearly and was devoted to his children, his pride and joy. He was so proud of his son and looked forward to being reunited with his beloved daughter, Kyra, one day. He will be greatly missed.

Marty is survived by his beloved wife, Shelly; their son, the Rev. Trevor Rickard and wife, Lauren and four month old grandson, Samuel; his four brothers: Verlin (Pat), Gary, Warren (Peg) and his twin, Marvin; his four sisters: Janet (Ed) Fleek, Glenda (Dale) Mudloff, Vicki (Bill) Tomjack and Darla (Rick) Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Allen in infancy and his daughter Kyra.

The Broken Chain

We little knew that day,

God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly,

In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.

You did not go alone.

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories.

Your love is still our guide.

And although we cannot see you,

You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,

And nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one,

The chain will link again.
