Feb 14, 2024 (0)

The Mid-States Tournament has passed and the O'Neill Eagle girls were looking at facing new opponents  shortly after. The first of the girl's games was played at Creighton Monday, Feb. 5 where they took down the Bulldogs 69-42.

The Eagles took charge this game, and quarter one was no exception. They took it 11-7. Quarter two was a big play from the Eagles, putting up 21 points while holding down the Bulldogs to only nine.

At half the Eagles were well ahead their opponent, but the third brought the game to a halt with a 15- point stalemate. The match ended with a big 22-11 final from the Eagles to take the win easy.

Hannah Hilker scored high with 20 points, shooting four of eight three-pointers and four of eight two-pointers. The next day the Eagles traveled to Plainview for their next match where they would take down their opponent 50-36.

The Eagles took an early lead where they would steadily remain the rest of the game. Quarter two kept the Eagles ahead of the Pirates, winning it 14-12.

That would be the closest the Pirates would come to taking down their opponent, as in the third they again fell by a score of 14-9. A final quarter win was all the Eagles needed to go 4-0 this match and take the game 50-36.

Hannah Hilker was once again the star with 21 points, shooting two of six three pointers and three of nine two-pointers. Hilker also had five rebounds; Young had 14 points, four rebounds and four steals; Heiss six points, four rebounds and one steal; Dusatko five points, ten rebounds and one steal; Selby four points, one rebound and one steal; Sidak two rebounds and one steal; and Classen and A.
