The O'Neill Eagles Cross Country Team wrapped up their season competing in the Class C NSAA State Cross Country Championships. Representing the Eagles in the girls' race was freshman Kiarra Kennedy, who ran as an individual and placed 25th overall, capping off an outstanding season. On the boys' side, the Eagles placed 11th as a team in a highly competitive field. The team was led by junior Max Berg, who finished 25th overall. Other finishers included Paul Fonseca (62nd), Alonso Hernandez (68th), Tomas Arciniega (84th), Brandon Romero (90th), and Evan Cole (110th). Each runner battled hard on the challenging state course, representing O'Neill with pride and determination. Coach Mr. Hilker reflected on the season, saying, “I realize we came up short of our goal at state, but overall this team has had a good season.” The coaching staff expressed gratitude to the senior runners for their leadership and commitment and shared excitement for what the returning athletes can accomplish next year."
