Lady Cardinals Fly Past Eagles

Megan Schneider - looks to move the ball back into play against Lynch last Friday in O'Neill.

Senior, Megan Schneider and Brooke Bauer led in scoring with 11 and 12 points as St. Mary's Lady Cardinals defeated Lynch in Niobrara Valley Conference action on their  home court  defeating them 60-31. Jessi Pongratz came in off the bench and provided a very good spark to get the team ignited, as she poured in nine points and grabbed seven boards. This was an excellent team effort as 10 of the 14 Lady Card's were able to put points on the board and all 14 players had a hand in the victory.

McKenna Rossmeier had the hot hand for Lynch as she knocked down 19 points in the contest.

Rossmeier also had nine of Lynch's 19 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Cardinals  grabbed 35 boards on the night. Bridget Schneider dished out five assists in the win and Brooke pulled down eight rebounds for St. Mary's. Next action will be against the Creighton Lady Bulldogs at home on Tuesday, Jan.24

St. Mary's had all it could handle in the first game as they escaped with a 23-22 win over CWC. The Lady Card's couldn't get the ball to  fall in the hoop. Poor shooting from the charity stripe was also a factor as we only made 1-11. CWC was able to knock down a couple of big baskets in the closing seconds to cut the lead to 23-17. Sydney Hupp and Riley Sibbelled in scoring with eight and seven points.

In the championship game St. Mary's managed to come back to life and defeat the Tigers 42-6.

From the charity stripe the Cards  improved greatly shooting 8-15. This was a much better effort by the entire team.
