C-O Cyclones Dominated Plainview 72-30 Last Friday


The C-O Cyclones hosted the Plainview Pirates last Friday and dominated the gridiron winning 72-30.

The offense was slow in the first quarter with neither team able to reach the end zone.

The second quarter saw both offenses finding their legs and scoring multiple times. Spencer Volden found the end zone first for the Cyclones on a four-yard run and the two-point conversion pass from Zach Martin to Andy Kerkman put the Cyclones up 8-0. 

Martin again hit Kerkman for the next score for the Cyclones for another six points. The Cyclones scored twice more in the second with Shane Willats on a 25-yard touchdown. Willats again found the end zone receiving a 30-yard touchdown pass from Martin. The Pirates still in the game came back with three touchdowns of their own and put the game within eight points before halftime.

The Cyclones kept things rolling in the third quarter scoring four more times in the third alone. Spencer Volden had a 20-yard touchdown on an interception and Martin threw two touchdown passes, one to Volden and the other to Kerkman. The final touchdown of the third came on a 12-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Mlnarik. Plainview scored once in the third on a 48-yard touchdown pass but couldn't manage any more points the rest of the game.

The final score of the game came on a 35 yard touchdown by Shane Willats.

The Cyclones are now 1-1 in the season.

Top rusher for the Cyclones was Willats with 121 yards and three touchdowns. Top passer was Martin who threw 12/16 for 216 yards and five touchdowns. Top receiver was Kerkman with four receptions for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Top defensive player was Blake Kester with six tackles.
