Eagle Wrestlers Face Tough Competition

The Eagle Wrestlers had a very difficult weekend this Saturday in Aurora.  O'Neill went 0-4 in dual action.  Losing 29-39 to York, 24-54 to Central City, 30-46 to Aurora, and 33-45 to Norris.  York upset Central City to earn the team title. Joe Gillham turned in the most notable performance for the Eagles going 4-0 on the day with three pins.  "The 0-4 record really stings, no doubt about it.  I think to a certain extent we got caught looking ahead at our upcoming duals instead of taking them one at a time.  That starts at the top and I need to do a better job keeping our guys focused.  That said, the reality is we faced four pretty deep Class B teams today.  Our margin for error wasn't very large in any of those duals and the mistakes we made were more then enough to sink us," commented Coach Corkle. The Eagles will be in action on Thursday night at home when they take on Creighton in dual action starting at 6:30.  On Saturday the Eagles will travel to Albion for the always tough Boone Central Invitational.  "We're hopeful this kind of outcome can serve to refocus us as a team.   Hopefully, everyone that is a part of this group, from coaches to wrestlers is looking in the mirror and asking themselves, 'what can I do to improve this team?'  Our motto for the season is, 'If it's to be, it's up to me.'  I'd say those words resonate a little louder after this weekend."  Individual records from the weekend are as follows:
