St. Mary's Junior High Girls Team Starts

Out With 4-0 Season

St. Mary's started the season off  by hosting Neligh-Oakdale on Nov. 13 and coming away with a nice win. A good solid defense was a key factor in the victory. Makayla Pardun led the team in scoring with 18 points. Logan Connot led in rebounding with 10 boards, while Breanna Hedstrom and Taylor Colman each accounted for six  steals each. This was a very good team effort from the entire team.

On Nov. 17 the St. Mary's junior high girls traveled to Stuart and participated in the Stuart Junior High Girls Basketball Tournament. This was a four team tournament with North Central, West Holt and Stuart completing the brackets.

The girls played Stuart first and came away with a hard fought win. In the championship game St. Mary's defeated North Central 64-24. Hattie Blumenstock led the team in scoring with a combined total of 27 points for both games. Other team members include Paige Tomjack, Kendra Kozisek, Breanna Hedstrom, Taylor Colman, Makayla Pardun, Caleigh Miles, Hailey Eiler, Payton Birkel and Logan Connot. Every team member had a hand in the two victories.

In the game against Ewing, defensively SMJH  controlled the game and forced Ewing into a lot of turn-overs. Breanna Hedstrom led in scoring with 17 points. Taylor Colman and Hailey Eiler led in steals with six each. Controlling the boards were Makayla Pardun, Logan Connot and Hattie Blumenstock with a combined total of 20 rebounds. All 10 team members have played in every game and have been a big factor in the 4-0 record.
