Spencer Fire Department Receives New Truck As Well As Equipment

Sep 13, 2023 (0)

The Spencer Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Spencer Rural Fire District held a push in Ceremony on Sept.10th. The Rural Board took delivery of a Danko “mini-pumper” on August 25th. Once the communication equipment and other emergency tools were delivered and loaded, it was ready to go into service.

We would like to thank the Spencer Community Foundation for their financial support towards the truck, as well as the new cordless extrication tools that were purchased. Farm credit services also awarded the department a grant for the extrication tools as well as a grant for new fire hose to put on the new truck.

Rocket Sign Company did an amazing job designing the patriotic decals that were paid for by the Sons of the American Legion. Chad and Molly Swanson donated their time to the endeavor.

The truck will be used as a rapid response vehicle for automobile accidents and serve as a second pumper for structure fires.

The Department would like to thank the Rural Board, Danko, the members of the “truck committee” (Bobby Haun, Tony Boettcher, Nathan Haun and Corey Finnegan), for the time and resources involved in making this a reality.

To the members of the Rescue Unit that helped with the supper after the ceremony, a heartfelt “Thank You”.

Grant Graff performed a beautiful blessing and dedication to help keep everyone safe.

To the community, we couldn't do what we do without your continued support and generosity at our fundraisers and would like to thank you for your help with the ceremony.

It was a wonderful way to kickoff the celebration of our 100th year as a fire department, and 72 years as a rural board.
