The St. Mary's Cardinals showed the area that they are more than just talk on Friday with a hard core win over Bloomfield winning 36-8.

The Cards were not picked to win this game by some media outlets, but for their lack of supposedly not playing anybody tough yet had a hard earned and impressive win over the Bees who are rated just above the Cards in their district.

The Cardinal defense showed their intensity and determination shutting down the Bees on fourth down four times.  The Cardinal line should be especially proud of their work holding their own against an always tough and moving Bloomfield front.

The Cardinal offense moved the ball well. David Shields scored first for the Cards on a 10-yard touchdown run followed by Tait Sibbel who ran in the two point conversion in the first quarter.

The score remained 8-0 at the half but St. Mary's came out and scored 22 unanswered points on the Bees in the third. Ty Eiler had a 53-yard punt return for a touchdown and then Tait Sibbel who was three for five in throwing on the evening completed two touchdown passes to Ryan Podany, one a 15-yard touchdown and the other a 30-yard touchdown pass.

The Cards scored once more in the game when Kyle Loecker had a 5-yard run into the end zone for a touchdown to put the Cards up 36-8. Dylan Wilson ran in a touchdown for the Bees after a drive down to the goal line to put Bloomfield on the board.

Leading rusher for the Cards was Tait Sibbel with 137 yards and the top receiver for the Cards was Ryan Podany with three catches for 52 yards. Kyle Loecker led the defense with 15 tackles.
