Eagles Take Second At O'Neill Invite

The O'Neill Wrestling Tournament was held last Saturday with nine teams competing.

In the 113 lb. class Joseph Gillham defeated Spencer Kirkpatrick with a pin in 4:33. Gillham then moved on to face Parker Wallin of Boone Central, who he pinned in 1:16 and then faced Cameron Perett of Valentine for first place and defeated him with a pin in 2:56.

In the 120 lb. class Jon Marvin drew a bye in the first round and then drew Cody Shanno of Boone Central in the second round, who Marvin pinned in 1:02. Jon then faced Ely Sharkey of Ainsworth who he lost to in decision by a score of 4-1 to take second in the class.

In the 126 lb. class Dion Nemec won his first match against Mark O'Brien of Boone Central with a pin in 1:08. Nemec then faced Jim Bob Ellsworth of Chamberlain and lost in decision 8-4. Nemec then moved to the consolation rounds where he faced Levi Sudbeck of Pierce, who he pinned in 3:38. Nemec then moved on to wrestle Tyler Maricle, Nemec pinned Tyler in 3:30. In the match for third Nemec wrestled Mark O'Brien of Boone Central and lost to take fourth place.

In the 132 lb. class Blake Walters defeated Isaac Osnes and then defeated Jacob Hand of Valentine with a pin in 4:40. In the final match Walters beat Russell Felicia of Chamberlain by decision score of 8-5 to take first place.

In the 138 lb. class Cory Rowse took a bye for the first round and then faced Jackson Meyer of Boone Central. Rowse pinned his opponent in 2:48. Rowse faced Nate O'Kief of Valentine for the championship round and lost 5-3 to take second.

In the 145 lb. class Marcus McNichols defeated Nathan Powell of Chamberlain with a major decision of 12-1. McNichols then lost his next match to Lucas Wiechman of Wisner Pilger by a pin in 1:55. McNichols defeated his next opponent, Logan Hamik by pinning him in 3:27. The final match put McNichols against Dakota Ruhnke who pinned him in 1:29.

In the 160 lb. class Jesse Albarran took a bye in the first round and in the second round defeated Jonathan Emme of West Holt by pinning him in 4:32. Albarran then faced Nick Ormesher of Valentine, who pinned Albarran in 3:31. Albarran then faced Thomas Swanson of Chamberlain. Albarran won with a major decision of 15-3. The final match put Albarran against Lance Hockenbary who pinned him in 2:06.

In the 170 lb. class David Fox won his first match against Logan Hale by pin in 0:53. Fox then faced Mike Hauke of Chamberlain and won by pin in 3:19. In the final match Fox lost 5-3 to take second place.

In the heavy weight class Keith Sandall took a bye in the first round and then defeated Brad Irlmeier in 4:26. In the third round Sandall lost to Joe Lopez of Norfolk Catholic by pin in 1:14. Sandall then faced Bret Mayhew of Valentine and lost by pin in 1:21.
