O'Neill Wrestlers Kept Busy

Two days, 10 matches; this short phrase sums up week two for the O'Neill Eagle wrestlers.  

A tired group of athletes returned home Saturday from Columbus with an even 5-5 dual record and two members of the tournament  earned All-Dual team.  Blake Walters finished the tournament a perfect 10-0 while David Fox went 8-2 with one of his losses coming up a weight class at 170 lbs.

"I thought as a team we got off to a bit of a slow start.  We spent all of last week working on movement off the bottom position and we didn't show much improvement in that area as a team early on.  The good news is our kids seemed to make adjustments as the tournament wore on and we seemed to get stronger," commented Coach Corkle.  The Eagles had four wrestlers who finished their five duals on Saturday with a perfect 5-0 record.  Jon Marvin, Joey Gillham, Blake Walters and David Fox. 

"The great thing about a tournament like this one is it really seems to do a good job of showing you where your weaknesses are on the mat.  Our practice agenda is set for the next week for sure," said Coach Corkle

The Eagles will be in action this Saturday at the Valentine Invitational.  Wrestling will begin at 10 a.m.
