O'Neill qualified three individuals in last Thursday's B-4 District Track Meet held at Columbus Lakeview High School. The top four finishers in individual events and the top two relays qualified in Class B. The weather cooperated for the majority of the meet with the final event, the 4 x 400 relay, being postponed until Friday afternoon due to lightning and tornadoes spotted in the Columbus area.

The Lady Eagles had two District champions, both from the same family. Bobbi Walters won the pole vault with a 11' vault and her sister, Brandi, won the 300 low hurdles in a personal best time of 47.7. Brandi also placed second in the 100 high hurdles in another personal best time of 15.6 and finished third in the 100 meter dash with a 12.8 clocking.

Alex Hedlund also had a great day as she qualified in both hurdle races. Alex placed second in the 300 low hurdles in a photo finish with teammate Brandi Walters, running the same time of 47.7. She ran her fastest time of the year in the 100 high hurdles, 15.8, to place third in that event.

Other Lady Eagle placers include Allison Depko, who threw the shot put in a personal best distance of 36' 3.25" to place sixth. Kelsey Appleby picked up another sixth place medal by throwing the discus in a personal best distance of 101' 2". Sophomore Dani Barelmann just missed a trip to State by finishing fifth in the 1600 meter run in her personal best time of 5:46.62. Dani was also a sixth place finisher in the pole vault clearing 8' 2". Teammate Katie Stepp just missed a trip to State in the vault clearing 8' 6" to finish in fifth place. Sophomore Lizzie Price rounded out the Lady Eagle placers with a sixth place finish in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:16.14.

The 4 x 400 relay team had to make the long trip back to Columbus on Friday to finish their event due to the weather on Thursday. The team of Catrina Spangler, Bobbie Walters, Alex Hedlund and Brandi Walters finished in fifth place.

O'Neill will be competing at Omaha Burke Stadium this Friday and Saturday.
