Holt County Department of Weeds Proceedings (02-29-2024)

February 8, 2024

The Holt County Weed Board met in regular session. This meeting publicized pursuant to Section 84-1411 R.R.S, 1943 Notice of meeting given in advance thereof by publication in paper as shown by Affidavit of Publication on February 1, 2024 in the Holt County Independent. John Hammerlun convened the meeting at 6:00 P.M. and informed the public of the location of the Open Meeting Poster. 

Present: Dan Drueke, Tom Welsh, Dan Pribil, John Hammerlun, Supervisor Dustin Breiner and Weed Superintendent William Babutzke. 

Excused: Kevin DeKay 

Minutes Approved: Tom Welsh made a motion to approve the minutes and Dan Pribil seconded. All approved.

Claims Approved: Dan Pribil made a motion to approve the claims and Dan Drueke seconded. All approved.

Old Business: 

Force Spray Fees Policy: Approved last month, looked over to make any corrections if needed. No corrections needed. 

New Business: 

Using the forestry head on tree stumps in District 2. Additionally, will be going south of Stuart. 

Planning a Leafy Spurge test plot with two new herbicides. Venue and Quinstar. Possibly three years of applications in the spring. 

Information on the following list of twelve noxious weeds found in Nebraska can be located at the neweed.org website with sufficient information on each noxious weed. 

Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Saltcedar, Phragmites, Giant Knotweed, Japanese Knotweed, Sericea Lespedeza, Leafy Spurge.

Date was set for the next meeting. March 7th 2024 at 6:00 at the Holt County Weed Office. 

Dan Pribil made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Dan Drueke seconded. All approved. Meeting adjourned at 6:40 pm.
