On Nov. 5th, 2022, Heaven gained a kind, faithful and gentle husband, father, brother and friend Gordon Lee Polinoski.

Gordon was born Jan. 19, 1942, in Scotia to George and Mable (Gydesen) Polinoski.

He was a member of the first graduating class of North Loup/Scotia High School.

Gordon was an avid hunter and fisherman in his day and spent countless hours with family and friends in the great outdoors.  One of his greatest joys was taking his grandsons fishing and giving them tips on how to “land a big one.”

His love of nature transcended into his passion of art. Many knew Gordon for his beautiful paintings and birdhouses.

Besides hunting, fishing, painting and building most people knew Gordon as being an exceptionally good cook! In 1979, Gordon and his wife Nancy purchased a small café in the village of Strang, The Strang Tavern.  During their 13 years of ownership of the Strang Tavern, Gordon and Nancy created a menu and atmosphere that was known from coast-to-coast. The food he prepared was masterfully crafted with time, research, “special herbs and spices” and love.

Gordon had a generous spirit and a big heart. He would be the first to feed anyone that was hungry, give the shirt off his back to those that needed clothed and would give his last penny to help someone in need. He was always worried about taking care of “his girls” (wife Nancy and daughters Krissa and Melissa) and creatures great and small inside and outside of his home.

If you had the opportunity to know Gordon, you would first encounter him as a stranger, but would leave being a friend. Getting to know people and having “good chats” was what he loved to do the most.

Gordon is survived by his wife Nancy, two daughters Krissa (Michael) Roemer and grandson Justin and Melissa (Jeff Jorgensen) and grandson Caleb, one brother Keith (Bev) Polinoski, two sisters Karol Rothe and Kay (Rollie) Davis as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mabel, one brother Gerald and two sisters and brothers-in-law Opal (Mel) Jacobsen and Lois (Buck) Cetak.
