The Atkinson Good Samaritan Society Prairie Winds is looking to get a generator for the assisted living facility. The facility would like to have a generator for when the power goes out due to storms. With a generator, the residents will be safe from falls, the facility will be able to provide basic necessities such as heat, air and hot meals and residents will be able to stay in their own living areas throughout a power outage. The center has been working on gathering donations as the cost of the project is $69,000. So far they have raised 75 percent of the goal and would like to have fund raising done by spring.
