Ervin "Pat" Krumm

Ervin "Pat" Krumm, age 84, of Atkinson, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, from 3-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Atkinson with Pastor Melody Brink officiating. Music was provided by organist, Caroline Poessnecker and soloist, Melody Brink.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Schaaf, Treper Jansen, Dan Jansen, Jon Slaga, Brad Carr and Roy Carr.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson with military graveside rites provided by the Farley-Tushla American Legion Post #86 of Atkinson.

Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson was in charge of arrangements.

Ervin "Pat" Krumm was born to George and Elizabeth (Reinch) Krumm on Sept. 8, 1928, north of Atkinson.

On Sept. 30, 1946, Pat enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Japan. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 16, 1948.

On Sept. 8, 1949, he and Earllaine Collins were united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church in Atkinson. To this union one son and two daughters were born.

Pat was a retired Nebraska State Highway Department employee where he worked for 38 years. In the years preceding he baled hay, drove truck, worked at White's Gas Station and helped manage the Atkinson Country Club.

He was a member of the Farley-Tushla American Legion Post #86 of Atkinson and served as Legion Vice Commander. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #926.

Pat was very involved in his church and loved to usher. He also loved to garden and make sure his yard was well kept. He enjoyed golfing and family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Earllaine Krumm of Atkinson; one son, Alan Krumm and wife, Debbie of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Caroline Krumm of Lincoln; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Ann Goeschel and Ruth Townsend, both of Lincoln.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sandra Jansen; three brothers; six sisters; a grandson, Gregory Schaaf and in-laws, Earl and Maudie Collins.
