Eagles Lose Close One To Boone Central In 3-0 Loss

O'Neill's derrick hostert (9) gets the ball pushed out from behind him in last Friday's game at Albion.

The O'Neill Eagles traveled to Albion to take on the 5-2 squad last Friday but came away with a tough  defensive 3-0 loss. The Cardinals took the lead early in the game with a field goal and that was the only points that went up on the board.

The Eagles defense battled hard with the line and the secondary keeping the Boone Central squad in check and keeping the Cardinals scoreless throughout the rest of the game.

"The Eagles suffered another heart-breaking loss to the 5-2 Boone Central Cardinals in a hard-fought defensive battle 3-0.  This game was very tough for our kids to take after such an effort two weeks in a row and coming up with a close loss.  Again we had a chance 1st and goal down on their seven yard line late in the 3rd and could not get any points on the board.  At that point you must find a way in your will to push past and take it from them, it was there for us and we did not get it done.  It's a very tough one to lose against a very good football team, but we will again go back to work this week and come out next Friday to finish our regular season at home stronger than ever against a very good St. Paul squad," said Coach Brock Eichelberger.

Leading the Eagles in rushing were Tate Laursen with 23 carries for 67 yards, Angel Rodriguez with three carries for 14 yards and Tyler Knopp with two carries for one yard. Leading receivers were Derrick Hostert with three catches for 20 yards, Angel Rodriguez with one catch for 16 yards and Tad Fry with one catch  for four yards.

Leading the defense for the Eagles were Angel Rodriguez with 12 tackles and Riley Chohon with 12, Tyler Knopp and Tate Laursen with 10 each and Spencer Knopp with eight.
