Friday night the O'Neill football  team ran into a very tough Wayne team and suffered a 40 - 6 setback. Offensively the Eagles could not get anything going on the ground or in the air the entire night.

"Their coaches had their team ready to play and we were not. Defensively we did not have an answer for containing their quarterback, Jalen Barry, and we gave up 250 yards in the air. Every time we had them at a third and long he would slip out, buy more time and complete a long pass to keep the drive alive," said Coach Eichelberger.

"This was a game that we will soon forget, but use what we've learned from the loss and improve to get better. I am more disappointed in myself as a coach for not having our team more ready to play last week than I am with the kids. This game goes on us as coaches and we will look to improve in every facet of the game in the next couple of weeks. We will get back to work the next couple of weeks with a bye this week and get back on the competitive track that we believe we're capable of playing." Leading the Eagles were Kedron Koehler with two carries for 56 yards and one touchdown, David Fox with nine carries for 27 yards and Jake Young with 27 yards.

Leading the receivers was Jacob Emme with three catches for 36 yards. Charley Burtwistle threw 15 times with five successful catches for 38 yards.

Leading the defense were David Fox with 12 total tackles and Spencer Knopp with nine total tackles. The Eagles have a bye this week and will play at Central City on Friday, Sept. 13.
