Dorothy Marie Mosel, 68, of O'Neill, died Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Atkinson.

Memorial visitation was held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a prayer service. Pastor Mike Durre officiated.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Dorothy was born on Feb. 12, 1957 in O'Neill to William Keith (Bill) Shaw and Genevieve Marie Kamphaus Shaw. Her family included three sisters Catherine Shaw Fox, Jeanne (David) Sayler and Diane Neuharth. Dorothy lived outside of O'Neill and attended school at District 165 before graduating from O'Neill High School in 1975. She relocated to an acreage east of O'Neill.

On Sept. 11, 1976, Dorothy was united in marriage to Von Mosel. Together they were blessed with two children Crystal and James. 

Dorothy and her husband made their home on a farm by Orchard. She enjoyed working beside her husband, while raising their children.

Dorothy and James enjoyed going fishing and camping at Fort Randall Dam in South Dakota. She also listened to church services on KBRX and prayed with Von.

Dorothy had a kidney transplant 16 years ago at Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. The kidney transplant prolonged her life for an additional 16 years.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 49 years Von Mosel of O'Neill; one son James Mosel of Tabor, SD; one daughter Crystal Mosel-Brummels of Laurel; four grandchildren Clara, Abigail, Grant and Eileen Brummels; one adopted granddaughter Kelli Walton and her two children Jenni and Katie Walton; and her three sisters Cathy Fox of O'Neill, Jeanne (Dave) Sayler of Menno, SD, and Diane Neuharth of Yankton, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Genevieve (Kamphaus) Shaw.
