Fairfax, SD — Dorothy Fay Pistulka, 90, of Fairfax, SD, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society nursing home in Corsica, SD.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairfax, SD with a rosary.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023 at the church in Fairfax, SD.

Burial was in the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Fairfax, SD.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy was born Jan. 24, 1933 to Perry and Ella (Peterson) Hoar at Herrick, SD.  Dorothy grew up in the Bonesteel, SD area. She graduated from Bonesteel High School in 1951.  

Dorothy had numerous jobs after high school and loved to waitress, as she enjoyed meeting people.  

Dorothy married George Pistulka Jr. on Aug. 14, 1954. To this union five children were born.  

Dorothy and George lived on his family farm north of Fairfax. She helped with the daily farm chores, which included milking cows, as she raised their family and cared for her mother- and father-in-law.  

Dorothy loved getting together with family and playing cards, especially pinochle.  

She was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Altar Society and the Fairfax American Legion Auxiliary.

Dorothy is survived by three of her children Anita (Maurice) Koenig of Coral Springs, FL, Bruce (Leann) Pistulka of Fairfax, SD and Gary (Julie) Pistulka of O'Neill;  21grandchildren:  Keith (Sharee) Koenig, Brian (Anna Caroline) Koenig,  Paul (Carly) Koenig,  Adam (Stephanie) Koenig,  Jessica (Kory) Knutson, Brad (Stefanie) Pistulka, Tracy (Trent) Vogt, Taylor (Steven) Koupal, Spenser Pistulka, Rylie (Shelton) Reynolds and Ryanne Pistulka; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Theon Hoar; one brother-in-law Don Hausmann; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her husband George in 2001, infant children Mary Ann and Joseph, infant grandson Alexander, her parents, two brothers Leonard and LeRoy and one sister Ellen Bendig.
