Lady Cards Take On Ewing And CWC

Laura Hynes of Ewing (22) dribbles to the bucket in last Thursday's game in Ewing.

Last Thursday the Lady Cardinals traveled to Ewing and played the always tough Ewing Lady Tigers. This contest went back and forth for most of the game until SMH was able to score 17 points compared to Ewing's five, in the final period. SMH was able to win 53-44 in a very tough game. Brooke Bauer led all scorers and rebounders as she posted a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Justine Blumenstock, Megan Schneider and Jessi Pongratz did a good job on the boards pulling down, eight, seven and six rebounds. Bridget Schneider led in assists with four while a host of Lady Cardinals had several steals.

Next action brought CWC Lady Renegades to town. The Cards were able to pull out a win and push their season record to 11-2. CWC had a definite height advantage inside against SMH. Justine Blumenstock did a great job of boxing out her much taller player and only allowing her three points in the game. Justine had a lot of help from the rest of her team as switching and doubling had to occur. SMH had seven players score points,  led by Brook Bauer and Justine with 12 and 11 in the 50-31 victory. Bridget Schneider dished out eight assists while our bench was able to spark the team with some nice shooting from the outside led by Emily Everitt's eight points.

Both games required a huge team effort and the Lady Cards responded to the challenge.
