St. Mary's Cardinals 

Defeat Knights

Two undefeated teams squared off in the St. Mary's gym on Monday, Dec. 17. Spalding/Spalding Academy (7-0) invaded O'Neill to take on the (5-0) Cardinals.

The Knights jumped out to a 10-2 lead early only to see the Cards fight back to tie the score at 16. St. Mary's then put together a steady second period to take a 33-25 lead at intermission. The second half saw the Knights cut the lead to six before the Cards ended the game with 19 fourth quarter points and a 66-54 victory. 

The Cardinals placed three men in double figures led by junior Adam Moon with 29 points. Senior Aaron Ohri added 13 tallies followed closely by junior Kyle Pardun with 11. 

St. Mary's won the board battle 42-23 and were led by Moon with 17 caroms. Ohri added seven boards while Jeremiah Cuddy had five.  Connor Connot and Jared Tomjack each contibuted four.

The defense did a good job of  holding the Knights under their 80 plus point scoring average. Pardun led the defense with three steals, while Ohri, Connot and Cole Moon each added two apiece. Moon and Pardun led the assist column with four each while point guard Ty Eiler added three.

Next action for the Cardinals will be the Crofton Holiday Tourney Dec. 28-29. The first game Friday will be the Lady Cards meeting Wynot girls at 2 p.m. followed by the boys game at 3:45 p.m.
