Cardinals Win Two 

Improve To 5-0

The St. Mary's boys varsity took to the road last week and won two games to improve their early season record to 5-0.

On Tuesday St. Mary's traveled to Neligh and defeated the Neligh/Oakdale Warriors 69-17. The Cards jumped to a 32-4 first quarter lead and never looked back. All fourteen varsity members saw action in both halves.

Adam Moon led the Cardinals with 20 points, 18 in the first quarter, as the starters saw limited action after the first stanza. Senior Aaron Ohri and junior Kyle Pardun each added eight tallies. Moon and Ohri led the rebounding with five caroms each. Juniors Matt Kelly and Wilson Hupp each recorded four rebounds. Senior point guard, Ty Eiler, dished out three assists to lead the ball handling. Eiler, Pardun and Cole Moon were defensive leaders with three steals each.

On Friday the Cardinals traveled to Bassett and defeated the North Central Knights 84-35. The Cards put together their most complete game thus far this early season. Junior Adam Moon again led the offense with 20 points while Ty Eiler added 15 tallies with 4-6 shooting from the three point range. Junior Jared Tomjack added nine points while Connor Connot, Aaron Ohri and Kyle Pardun each added eight scores. Moon led the board action with 10 while Connot was close behind with nine. St. Mary's had a total of 18 offensive boards in the contest. Eiler again added a good floor game with seven assists while Pardun added five dishes. Three other Cards added three assists each. On defense Eiler and Kyle Loecker added three steals each.

The Cards hosted Spalding/Spalding Academy (7-0) Monday before taking the Christmas break. St. Mary's will return to action Dec. 28-29 at the Crofton Holiday Tournament. The Cardinals take on Wynot in first round action.
