On Wednesday, May 24 at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Atkinson Police Department was contacted in reference to a road rage incident. The caller drove to the 700 block of E. State St., with the suspect following. Sgt. Dave Mincer attempted to contact the suspect driver. The suspect, when contacted by police, fled the scene, striking Sgt Mincer with his vehicle. Sgt Mincer was taken to the hospital, by the Atkinson Fire and Rescue Service, with non life threatening injuries. With the assistance of the Holt CO Sheriff's office, Nebraska State Patrol and the Atkinson Police Department, Jacob McVay of Auburn was later arrested for Assault of an Officer and DUI.
