RADIO TOWER SITE BLESSING - The transmitter site for Spirit 91.5, a Catholic radio station, was held on Sunday, June 9 and was blessed by Archdiocese George J. Lucas of the Omaha Diocese. The tower site is rented from KBRX Radio of O'Neill. Pictured front row (l-r) are: O'Neill Knights of Columbus members Craig Fry, Chris Koelzer, Ben Doolittle and Connor Selby, Archbishop George Lucas and St. Patrick's Pastor Father Bernie Starman. Back row (l-r): Spirit Catholic Radio personnel Mark Voris-Chief Engineer, Bernie Schaefer-Vice President of Development and Eric Svoboda-Operations Director.

This past weekend members of the O'Neill community celebrated the launch of a new radio station – Spirit 91.5 FM – KONL. Spirit Catholic Radio's 18th signal began broadcasting from the O'Neill tower on May 9, 2024, covering roughly a 40-mile radius. Parishioners of St. Patrick Catholic Church gathered together with Fr. Bernard Starman, Archbishop George J. Lucas of the Archdiocese of Omaha, and Spirit Catholic Radio staff members to hear a few words about the new signal and the importance of Catholic radio. Archbishop Lucas then journeyed to the 91.5 FM tower site to bless the new equipment.

Spirit Catholic Radio's Vice President of Development, Bernie Schaefer, commented about the memorable event, “What a wonderful opportunity this has been to meet so many residents from O'Neill and surrounding areas who are now able to powerfully hear Catholic radio broadcasting from their very own community. Spirit 91.5 truly is their Catholic radio station!”

Spirit 91.5 FM broadcasts a variety of programming 24/7 and features many programs produced locally in Nebraska, including the Mass typically heard each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. CT, which is recorded at St. Patrick in O'Neill.
