It's almost that time of year again when Chambers hosts the annual Holt County Fair. The event starts Aug. 4 and ends five days later on the 9th. This year's theme is "Stars, Stripes and Summer Nights". There are a couple days dedicated to Shooting Sports leading up to the fair. Saturday, Aug. 2 at 9 a.m. 4-H shooting events begin. These include shooting using a .22 Rifle, Trap, Smallbore Pistol and Muzzleloading. The day after there are more 4-H shooting events, also beginning at 9 a.m. These include .BB Gun, Air Rifle and Air Pistol and Archery. Monday, Aug. 4 the fair kicks off proper at 8:30 a.m. with the CLOVER KID Cat Project, 4-H Cat Show, CLOVER KID Small Animal Project and 4-H Small Animal Show. Later, at 9:30 a.m. the CLOVER KID Dog Project begins, followed up by the 4-H Dog Show. Tuesday, Aug. 5 there will be the big 4-H Horse Show, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 offers up CLOVER KID Interview judging from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be a 30 minute lunch break to follow. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be 4-H Interview Judging. Thursday, Aug. 7 has tons to do and see. Starting the day is the Market Hog Show at 9 a.m. Immediately after, at 11 a.m. the CLOVER KID Meat Goat Project is underway, as well as 4-H Bottle Meat Goats and Meat Goat Show. Following that is the CLOVER KID Bottle Lamb Project, 4-H Bottle Lambs and Sheep Show. At about 4 p.m. Livestock Judging and the Skill-a-thon Contest are live. At 6:30 things get intense with Muttin Bustin', with the Ranch Rodeo immediately following at 7 p.m. to bring the night to a close. Friday, Aug. 8 wastes no time with Bucket Calf Interviews starting at 7:30 til noon. There will be a Beef Show in the middle at 8:30. At 1 p.m. the Bucket Calf Show officially starts. At 4:30 p.m. the Market Livestock Bonus Auction begins, with a free-will BBQ just an hour later and at 6:45 Awards will be announced. A little later at 7 p.m. the Party Rock Productions Bull Ride & Ranch Broncs with Muttin Bustin' take center stage. At 9 p.m. things wind down with the Ren & Red Show. Saturday, Aug. 9 is the final day of the Fair, but there is still plenty of fun to be had. The day begins with Producing Dairy Cows & Dairy Goats at 8:30 a.m. At the same time, the CLOVER KID Dairy Goat Project, 4-H Bottle Dairy Goats and Dairy Goat Show are all underway. The CLOVER KID Rabbit Project, 4-H Rabbit Show, CLOVER KID Poultry Project and 4-H Poultry and Waterfowl Show are all at 9 a.m. Directly after, at 10 a.m. there will be a Dairy Show - ONLY Producing Dairy Cows & Goats are released following the show. From 1 to 2 p.m. the Show Barn will be hosting Round Robin. Shortly after, at 2:30 p.m. the Shooting Sports Awards Ceremony commences. Stick around for Kid's Pedal Pull at 3 p.m., followed by Rib Cook Off an hour later, with a Demolition Derby at 6:30 p.m. and Modern Kowboy to round out the events. Throughout the days there will also be extra events, starting with Cotton Candy being served Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the 4-H Static Check-In. There will be a Carnival on Thursday and Friday going from 5 to 10 p.m. and 5 to 11 p.m. on Saturday. Pony Rides will also be offered Friday and Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. Another big event is the Gun Raffle on Thursday and Friday night. Two guns will be drawn during Thursday's Ranch Rodeo at about 7 p.m. And later, on Friday, two more guns will be drawn during the Bull Ride, also at 7 p.m. Ticket prices for certain events are as follows: Thursday, Ranch Rodeo- Adults $10/Children $5 Friday, Party Rock Productions - Adults $15/Children $5 Saturday, Demolition Derby - Adults $15/Children $5 Children four and under attend all events for free.
