Spencer — Alicia Joan Lauridsen, 70, of Spencer, died Monday, July 28, 2025 at Accura Healthcare in O'Neill. Visitation was held Friday, Aug. 1, 2025 at Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer with a prayer service. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025 at the Spencer Wesleyan Church in Spencer. Rev. Grant Graff officiated. Burial was in the National Cemetery in Spencer. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Alicia was born on May 18, 1955 in O'Neill to Raymond and Doris (Perry) Calkins. Alicia grew up in O'Neill and graduated from O'Neill High School in 1973. While in high school, Alicia enjoyed going roller-skating and worked at Buzzy's Jalopy. Alicia met Duane Lauridsen when he worked at Trowbridge Ford where her sister's husband was a mechanic. The couple later married on Dec. 15, 1973 in O'Neill. To this union four boys were born David, Dewey, Matthew and Joshua. They moved to Spencer into a double-wide trailer on Duane's family farm. Alicia worked as a teacher's assistant for over 15 years. She then worked at the Iron Man Café in Spencer for over four years before working at the Highland House in Spencer as a CNA. Alicia enjoyed cooking, she was known for her famous meatballs and homemade loaves of bread. She also enjoyed watching movies, especially sci-fi movies. Some of her favorites were Star Wars, Star Trek and Titanic. She was also a music lover, an avid card player and enjoyed doing word searches. Alicia also enjoyed taking care of her numerous cats. She was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary for 40 years. Alicia is survived by her husband of 51 years Duane Lauridsen of Spencer; her four sons David (Marty) Lauridsen of Columbus, Dewey Lauridsen and Matthew Lauridsen, both of Lincoln, and Josh Lauridsen of Kearney; 11 grandchildren Jessica Lauridsen, Paige (Max Staley) Lauridsen, Dylan (Jaina) Lauridsen, Conner, Emily, MaKenna, Lilly, Kalub, Skylur, Raigen and Ryland; four great-grandchildren Dreylan, Emmett, Veyda and Sunni Lauridsen; her sister Lettie (Tony) Edwards of Genoa; two brothers-in-law Wayne Muff of Beatrice and Jim Stoffer of Louisiana; her sister-in-law Cora Calkins of O'Neill; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Dawn Muff and Reena Stoffer, one brother Walt Calkins and special grandmother Lettie and Floyd Tucker.
