Adamsons Chosen As 2022 Irish King And Queen

Mar 23, 2022 Updated Apr 5, 2022 (0)

2022 St. Patrick's King and Queen Don and Lauri Adamson are pictured with their children and grandchildren this past Saturday on the World's Largest Shamrock.

Don and Laurie Adamson were chosen this year for O'Neill's St. Patrick's Day King and Queen. The Adamson family has a long legacy of involvement with this celebration.  Don's parents, JR and Annabelle Adamson, were also King and Queen of St. Pat's in the past. JR was also a Walk of Fame recipient. Don & Laurie have four daughters, Melanie Stepp, Melissa Browne, Michelle Meuret, and McKenzie Hostert, as well as eleven grandchildren who all live in or close to the O'Neill area.

Don and Laurie have always been strongly involved with the O'Neill community, supporting the St. Pat's celebration by handing out Dr. Peppers during the Men's Club Shamrock painting, providing giveaways for the KBRX radio station, sponsoring the greening of the horse, Fun Run, Rotary Club, local bar games, the Irish Chug Run, halfway to St. Pat's event, and the Irish dancers.

Don joined O'Neill's Adamson Distributing in 1982 and Laurie joined in 1985. Don was one of the first distributors to figure out how to get the green dye in the kegs of beer and figures he has drunk over seven kegs of green beer in his life. In the old days the St. Pat's horse was greened outside and Laurie, feeling sorry for the horse, offered to green it in the Adamson's warehouse for a couple of years until Tony and Becky Emme were kind enough to host the greening of the horse at their new shop, making it a wonderful family event for everyone to enjoy.

Don and Laurie are proud and grateful that them and their family have been a part of the O'Neill community and the St. Patrick's Day celebration in O'Neill, Nebraska throughout their life and look forward to many years to come!
