Stanley "Stan" Eugene Watson, 87, of O'Neill, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2023 at the Arbor Care Center in O'Neill.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a parish rosary.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill.

Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Stanley was born on Oct. 3, 1935 in rural Chambers to Gordon and Aletha (Mosher) Watson. He attended rural country school in southern Holt County, Chambers District. 

On Oct. 2, 1954, Stan married Betty Gartner in O'Neill. To this union seven children were born Teresa, Patricia, Mary, Bob, Janice, Robyn and Steven. 

Stan worked for the Nebraska Brand Committee and various ranching jobs including Putnam Ranches for over 40 years. He truly enjoyed working with horses and cattle.

Stan was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. 

He enjoyed card club and reading western novels. 

Stan is survived by his wife of 68 years Betty Watson; seven children Teresa (Randy) Gotto of Onawa, Iowa, Patricia Plugge of O'Neill, Mary Watson of Larkspur, CO, Bob (Diane) Watson of O'Neill, Janice Lahammer of Maryville, MO, Robyn (Tuff) Larson of O'Neill and Steven (Michelle) Watson of Columbus; 27 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons-in-law Greg Olson, Kevin Plugge and Rocky Lahammer; three grandchildren Matt, Sharla and Shana Plugge; one great-grandchild Logan Plugge; one brother Lyle "Buck" (Pat) Watson; one sister Helen (Dave) Burk; and one nephew Dan Watson.
