Ruth Arlene Winings, age 93, of Atkinson, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at the West Holt Memorial Hospital in Atkinson.

Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, from 3-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson. 

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Atkinson with Pastor Terry Otto and Wayne Owens officiating. Music was provided by organist, Rossanne Schilz and singers, Bonnie Krysl and Joanna Goodhue.

Casket bearers were Roland Osborne, Tim Wallinger, Steven Osborne, Jacob Osborne, Grant Wallinger, Brett Phillips, Nate Wallinger, Jeffery Winings, Tyler Winings and Matthew Osborne.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson.

Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson was in charge of arrangements.

Arlene was born on Oct. 12, 1919, in Jewett, Ohio to Anna (Kirkpatrick) and John Myers. 

She met Ernest Winings in 1932 and married him on Nov. 24, 1937,  in Jewett, Ohio. They lived on a farm in Ohio until moving to a ranch south of Atkinson in 1957. Later they moved into Atkinson.

Arlene was an avid supporter and active participant in the Atkinson Senior Center since 1991. She also volunteered many years at the thrift shop run by the senior center.

She moved into the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in 2010 where, until the last few months, she was active in their activities.

Arlene is survived by her children:Myrna Lee and partner, Ray Sparks of Mesa, AZ; Merle Winings and his wife, Jean of Canyon, Texas; Gerald Winings and his wife, Shelly of Atkinson; Donna Dobias and her husband, Roger of Joplin, MO; Margorie Osborne and her husband, Kenneth of Atkinson; Dick Winings and his wife, Mary Jo of Dalhart, Texas; and Allan Winings and wife, Corrine of O'Neill. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Louise Myers of Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; great-granddaughter, Ella Catherine Curt; son-in-law, George Goebel; brother, Dean Myers and half-sisters, Helen Raynard, Ethel Marshal and Wilma McElwain.

The family requests memorials be given to the Atkinson Senior Center or the West Holt Medical Services Foundation.
