Patricia, the only child of the late Edward and Kathleen (Roskoff) O'Donnell, was born on Aug. 3, 1927, and raised in O'Neill. She endured the loss of her mother at a very early age and was warmly embraced by her father's family.

After high school she packed up to River Forest, IL to attend Rosary College, now Dominican University.  Graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in English, she entered the business world with various positions in Chicago while rooming with a fellow Rosary alumna.

It was during this time that she met and began a courtship with her roommate's brother John J. Wadden, originally from Sioux City, Iowa. Pat and John were wed in O'Neill in 1953 and remained happily married for 56 years until his death in 2009.

The couple moved to Beaumont, Texas for John's engineering job with Mobil Oil, where they began raising their five children. The young family relocated to Norwalk, CT as John's career led him to a management position with Mobil in New York City.  In their later years, John and Pat retired to Florida.

While caring for her husband and children, Pat found time for a wide variety of interests including golf, duplicate bridge, travel, reading and the arts, and she was a vivacious and enthusiastic party hostess ready to celebrate virtually any occasion.

She was a devout Catholic parishioner, with a faith in God and the power of prayer that sustained her throughout her life.

Pat was known as an incredibly gracious, welcoming and giving person who took an interest in everyone she met.  Her readiness to laugh, belief in the good in all people, cheerleading life's underdogs, unwavering support of John's alma mater Notre Dame University and the ever-present Irish twinkle in her eye will be remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her passing at exactly 3:17 a.m. on St. Patrick's Day seems most fitting.

Pat was the loving mother of Michael Wadden of Lake Worth Beach, FL, Kathleen Wadden Shannon of Shelton, CT, Mary Louise Wadden of Fort Collins, CO, Joann Wadden Schaumann (George) of Palatine, IL, and Edward Wadden of Milford, CT; and the cherished grandmother of Thomas Shannon, Whitney Wadden-Charkey, James Shannon, Anna Shannon and Julia Schaumann; she is also survived by her large extended family, countless friends and acquaintances around the country.
