Mary E. "Betty" Lutt Robinson

Mary E. "Betty" Lutt Robinson, age 81, of Bellevue, WA, originally of O'Neill, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, after a 15 year battle with squamous cell cancer (mouth, jaw and lungs).

A Mass will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church, 4400 130th Pl SE in Bellevue, WA, with inurnment of Betty and Paul Robinson's urn at Sunset Hills Memorial Park at noon.

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" White  was born on Oct. 22, 1931, in Gregory, SD, to Robert Martin and Rose Ellen (Flynn) White. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in O'Neill in 1948 and went to Creighton University in Omaha.

She married Paul Warren Lutt, Sr. in 1951 and he passed away in 1966. To this union one son was born, Paul W. Lutt, Jr. 

Betty and Paul Neuman Robinson, PhD, were married in 1970 . Until his retirement they lived and worked in Pennsylvania where he was a professor of Anglo-Irish Literature at the University of Pittsburgh. During these years Betty did genealogical research which made prize-winning preserves, hosted friends from far and wide and herded many cats. They retired in Bellevue, WA.

Her lifelong hobbies included writing detailed interesting letters on a typewriter (no computer), never forgetting birthdays or anniversaries, live theatre, travel to Ireland and being a thoughtful friend to all she met along the way. She especially cherished old friends and cats.

A direct descendant of Richard Warren (Society of Mayflower Descendants), she was a charter member of Cascade Chapter, DAR, member of the Seattle Genealogical Society, Trenchers and Flagoners and genealogy societies in Vermont and Pennsylvania. She was eligible to join many genealogical organizations.

Betty is survived by one son, Paul Lutt, Jr. (Dotti); sister, Jean White Looy (Dave) and Pat's family: Kathy Parish, Captain Jim Parish USN (Michelle), Rob Parish and Kim Parish Montgomery (John); brothers-in-law, Geo Yelland Jr., Fr. Laurence Robinson, SJ and Gene Rupel; sister-in-law Diane Robinson; cousins and members of Dr. Robinson's family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Rose White; husbands, Paul Lutt, Sr. and Dr. Paul Robinson; a sister, Pat O'Flynn and niece Rosemary Dee Parish.
