Lois Slizoski, age 83, of Ewing, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. wake service, on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. 

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing with Father James Kramper officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Harpster, organist and Doug Wright, soloist.

Pallbearers were John Anson, Colby Ritz, Seth Anson, Justin Ritz, Dustin Wright, Michael Koenig, Gene Schwager, Larry Kaczor and Pat Pofahl. 

Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters and great-granddaughters.

Burial was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Ewing.

Arrangements were conducted by Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater.

Lois Marie was born on Nov. 20, 1929, to John and Daisy (Sholes) Hawk on a farm near Ewing. She attended school in Ewing, graduating from high school with the class of 1947. After graduation she taught grade school for one year near Ewing. She then moved to Omaha and worked at a packing house.

On Feb. 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to John Slizoski at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing. The couple continued to live in Omaha for a short time before returning to the Ewing area. They farmed and ranched in a few different places before settling on the "Slizoski" farm southwest of Ewing in 1971.

John and Lois farmed, operated a dairy farm and raised livestock there for many years. Lois work hard on the farm and her whole life was dedicated to making a living and raising her girls. She did enjoy painting, putting puzzles together and playing cards in her free time.

She suffered from macular degeneration and as she grew older could no longer see well enough to do the things she enjoyed in life. Talking to her family and friends on the phone and listening to KBRX radio became very important to her. 

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing.

Lois is survived by her five girls: Cindy and husband Chuck Ritz of Comstock, Frances Anson, Susan Wright, Rita and husband Terry Anson and Gina and husband Kevin Koenig, all of  Ewing; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin and wife Barb Hawk of Orchard and Jim Hawk of Hastings; one sister, Sharon and husband Arnold Frahm of Norfolk; and close friends, Lynda Puls, Cheryl Thramer, Lynda Fry, Mary Ann Biddlecome, Maxine Koenig and Father Kramper.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; sister Shirley Mori and three brothers, Vearl, Gail and Jack Hawk. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.snidermemorialfh.com.
