Lily Marie Shearer, age 86, of Stuart, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Parkside Manor in

Stuart. Visitation was held on Monday, May 23, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. at Seger Funeral Home in Stuart with a 7:00 p.m. rosary. Funeral services were held on May 24, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stuart. Father Luke Steffes officiated. Music was provided by Deb Kaup, organist and the St. Boniface Church choir. Lily "Lil" Marie (Hytrek) Shearer was born on April 28, 1925 to Stanislaus (Stencil) and Mary (Miksch) Hytrek in Stuart. She attended Stuart Public High School where she graduated as the valedictorian of the class of 1942. After graduation she taught rural school for one year than worked in Munitions plant in Grand Island until she married Richard "Dick" J. Shearer on June 30, 1945 in Omaha. To this union six children were born. Lil was very active in both her church and the community. She was a member of the Stuart BoosterClub, a 4-H Leader, Extension Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary Chorus, St. Boniface Christian Mothers, St. Boniface Church Choir, CCD Teacher and Stuart High School Band Boosters. She worked

as a CNA and a CSM at Parkside Manor for 35 years until she retired at the age of 75. She was very caring and patient with the residents there.Music was a major part of Lil's life. She had a song for every occasion and loved to sing. Lil always had a garden and baked pies and because she had a sweet tooth made lots of desserts. Birthdays were very important to her. She always made birthday cakes for Dick and the children and never forgot their special day. Lily is survived by her children, Mary Bott of Stuart, Don Shearer and his wife Gini of Stuart, Jean Mattson and her husband David of Kearney, Doris Hamilton and husband Rick of Stuart, Rick Shearer and his wife Terri of Stuart and Bill Shearer of Stuart; 11 grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren; one sister, Loretta Fawcett of Denver, CO; sisters-inlaw, Margaret Cigrand of Cascade, Iowa, Helen Henry of Marion, Ohio and AvaJean Rador of Blair. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; grandson, Wayne Shearer; brothers, Frank and Stanislaus Hytrek; and three sisters, Johanna Coker, Sister M. Theophane
