Leo Miller, age 91, of Ewing, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at the Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Ewing with Pastor Eric Ford officiating. Muisc was provided by Nancy Harpster as organist and Kevin Fry, Bill Kruger, Matt Maxwell and Beau Fry, soloists.

Burial was in the Ewing City Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Sanders American Legion Post #214.

Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater was in charge of arrangements.

Leo Earnest Miller was born on Sept. 14, 1921, to Howard and Vera (Trowbridge) Miller at Page. He graduated from Ewing High School in 1939.

In September of 1942 Leo enlisted in the United States Army. He attended basic training at Camp Roberts in California, OCS flight school at Fort Sill in Oklahoma and 83rd Division training at Camp Breckinridge, KY. Leo went overseas in February of 1944. During his duty he served in France, Luxemburg and Germany. He returned home in September of 1945.

On Dec. 5, 1943, he was united in marriage to Shirley Switzer at her parents', Ora and Winifred Switzer's, home in rural Ewing. Leo farmed with his Dad and brother until retiring.

He enjoyed woodworking, camping, reading, singing and traveling. His biggest and proudest accomplishment was his family. 

He was a very active member of the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and on various committees. He served on the Ewing Public School Board for many years and was past president. He was also a member of the Sanders American Legion Post #214.

Leo is survived by his wife, Shirley of Ewing; children, Joanie and husband, David Worthen of Marion, Ohio; Becky and husband, Loren Johnson of Omaha; Ellen and husband, Doug Denney of Norfolk; and Melanie and husband, Frank Funk of Ewing. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Miller of Ewing; one sister, Lou Bosell of Stanwood, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steve Miller; granddaughter, Ashley Hagler and a sister, Jeanetta Hadduck.
