Karroll Coffin


Karroll Coffin, age 66, of Ord, formerly of Chambers, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Visitation was Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at 1:00 p.m until time of service.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Biglins Mortuary in O'Neill. Officiating was Rev. Murry Jay Johnston.

Burial was in the Chambers Cemetery.

Military Graveside Rites was conducted by the Chambers American Legion Post #320.

Biglins Mortuary in O'Neill was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Coffin, Vincent Coffin, Brandon Coffin, Chuck Harbourt, Nathan Harbourt, Cody Harbourt.

Honorary Pallbearers were Dean Smith and Matthew Harbourt.

Karroll was born March 5, 1945, at Boise, Idaho to John and Margaret Coffin. He graduated from Homedale High School in Idaho, and attended two years of college. On Nov. 29, 1962, he entered the United States Army serving his country during the Vietnam War. He received his honorable discharge on May 19, 1971. Karroll married Ruth Smith on Jan. 28, 1976, in Vancouver, WA. She passed away Sept. 6, 1985. He married Pamela Harbourt on June 5, 1986, in Yankton, SD. He worked at Foxley Cattle Company for many years.

Karroll was a member of the American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a Boy Scout leader in the past.

He is survived by 10 children, Dean Smith of O'Neill, Lisa Nims of Sequim, WA, Nicole Coffin of Winnetoon, Brandon Coffin of Inman, Jenifer Coffin of Atkinson, Kenneth Coffin of Ord, Crystal Babcock of Creighton, Vincent Coffin of Casper, WY, Stormy Coffin of Orchard, Shawna Coffin of Orchard; his ex-wife, Pamela Coffin of Orchard; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, LeRoy Coffin of Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; and one brother.
