Jean Webster



Jean Webster, age 91, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Golden LivingCenter Covington Heights.

The family will be present to greet friends for visitation from 6:30-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, SD.

A memorial servic will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, SD.

George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, SD, is in charge of arrangements.

Jean Dale Seip was born in St. Joseph, MO, on July 28, 1920, to Martin and Ollmeda (Seitz) Seip.  She moved to Watertown, SD, with her family in the 1930’s because of employment opportunities for her father. Jean graduated from Watertown High School and attended SDSU for one year before marrying Robert Webster in 1940.

  Jean worked at J.C. Penney before taking a job at the Mercantile Company in Watertown.  After her divorce in 1969, she moved to Kansas City, MO, where her mother lived. She worked for the IRS as a systems analyst for a number of years. Jean then moved to Des Moines, Iowa, and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture before her retirement in the 1980’s. 

  Following her retirement, Jean moved back to Kansas City, MO, where she devoted much of her time volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Hospital and the Hallmark Crown Center.  After her mother passed away in 1991, she moved to Sioux Falls to be near her family.

  Jean was an avid reader, birdwatcher and gardener.  She was also an accomplished seamstress.

  She is survived by her two children, Dennis Webster, O’Neill and George (Nancy) Webster, Watertown, SD; two grandchildren; four great-grandsons and step-sister, Pat Kelly, Lake Havasu City, AZ.  

Jean was preceded in death by her parents.
