Magdalen A. Franssen, age 82, of Lincoln passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011.

Visitation was held from 12-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26 , from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27 with a 7 p.m. rosary at Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home and Saturday, Aug. 28, 2011, from 9-9:30 a.m. with a 9:30 a.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Lincoln.

Burial took place at Calvary Cemetery.

Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.

Magdalen was born in O'Neill, to Bernard and Winifred Matthews.

She was owner of Nebraska Church Goods and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Claire and Tom Baker of Omaha, Diane and Mick Horak and Kathleen and Dave Frisbie, both of Lincoln; sons, James Jr. and Mary Franssen and Tim Franssen, all of Lincoln, and John of Hastings; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward Jr. and Trudy, Carol and Linda, Paul and Donna, Roland and Sharon, Jake and Carol, Dan and Ruthie and Tom; sisters-in-law, Marceline (Ray) Innes, Olsburg, KS, Carolyn and Wayne Bohy, Mary Frances (Art) Christiansen, Bernadette Thiel, Geraldine (Leo) Cook and Sue (Ron) Prinslow; Arlene Franssen and Erma (Franssen) Morissett and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Winifred Matthews; husband, James E. Franssen Sr.; son, Lonnie; grandson, David Frisbie Jr. and brothers-in-law, Gerald and Robert.

Memorials may be given to the Catholic Daughters of America and masses.
