OF EDUCATION

REGULAR BOARD MEETING

A meeting of the Board of Education of Chambers Public Schools was convened in open and public session on May 16, 2022, in Room 1 at Chambers Public Schools, 201 S. A Street, Chambers, Nebraska. The roll was called, and the following Board members were present: Terry Kamphaus, Matt Ehlers, Mark Dexter, Amy Scott, Travis Dougherty, and Monte Metschke. Also present were Frank Jesse, Superintendent and Steve Gleisberg, Principal.

Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication on the Chambers Public School's website on May 9, 2022, and thereafter in the Holt County Independent, and Chambers Shopper on May 11, 2022. Notice of this meeting was given in advance to all members of the Board of Education. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the publicized notice and a current copy of the agenda was maintained as stated in the publicized notice. All proceedings of the Board of Education, except as may be hereinafter noted, were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public. 

The meeting was called to order by President Terry Kamphaus at 8:01 p.m. 

Announcement of Open Meetings Act Posting

At the beginning of this meeting, the Chair announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted on the west wall of Room 1.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Motion by Travis Dougherty, seconded by Monte Metschke, to approve the agenda. Motion carried, 6-0. Aye: 6 Ehlers, Dexter, Scott, Dougherty, Metschke, Kamphaus. Nay: 0

Visitors were invited to share public comment.

Motion by Travis Dougherty, seconded by Monte Metschke to separate the MSM Enterprise claim from the consent agenda. Motion carried, 6-0. Aye: 6 Ehlers, Dexter, Scott, Dougherty, Metschke, Kamphaus. Nay: 0

Motion by Matt Ehlers, seconded by Mark Dexter to approve MSM Enterprise claim. Motion carried, 5-0. Aye: 5 Ehlers, Dexter, Dougherty, Metschke, Kamphaus. Nay: 0 Amy Scott abstained.

Motion by Amy Scott, seconded by Matt Ehlers, to approve all items on the consent agenda as provided. After discussion and roll call vote the motion carried, 6-0. Aye: 6 Ehlers, Dexter, Scott, Dougherty, Metschke, Kamphaus. Nay: 0

GENERAL FUND CLAIMS: $55,769.93

HOT LUNCH CLAIMS: $10,602.81

PAYROLL: $186,062.35

A. Motion by Travis Dougherty, seconded by Mark Dexter to approve updated Section 2 Board Policies. Motion carried, 6-0. Aye: 6 Ehlers, Dexter, Scott, Dougherty, Metschke, Kamphaus. Nay: 0

B. Motion by Matt Ehlers, seconded by Travis Dougherty to approve .50 FTE teaching contract for Rylee Dexter for 2022-2023 school year. Motion carried, 6-0. Aye: 6 Ehlers, Dexter, Scott, Dougherty, Metschke, Kamphaus. Nay: 0

C. Motion by Amy Scott, seconded by Monte Metschke to approve, with regrets, the resignation of Suzanne Stairs and thanked her for her service and dedication to Chambers Public School. Motion carried, 6-0. Aye: 6 Ehlers, Dexter, Scott, Dougherty, Metschke, Kamphaus. Nay: 0

D. Update of 2022-2023 coaching assignments was given.

E. No action taken to approve 2022 Holt County Fair concession extra duty contract for Brady Baker.

Motion was made by Monte Metschke, seconded by Mark Dexter, to adjourn the meeting at 9:27 p.m. on May 16, 2022. Motion carried, 6-0. Aye: 6 Ehlers, Dexter, Scott, Dougherty, Metschke, Kamphaus. Nay: 0  The meeting was duly adjourned.
