Tigers Down Elgin But Fall To North Central

The Ewing Tigers downed the EPPJ Crusaders 48-45 on Friday, Jan. 19 at Jimmy Good Court in Ewing.  This game was close throughout as neither team was able to hold much of a lead.

The Tigers consistent play throughout the game and solid job on defense allowed the Tigers to come up with the victory.  The Tigers were led by Jake Walton and Robert Nordby with 14 points each and Blake Cunningham added 11.  Nordby also pulled down eight rebounds on the night.  Cunningham dished out five  assists while Summers and Walton each had three.

“We fought hard for this victory against a very physical Wolfpack team.  We were able to hold our own on the boards against a bigger team and hit some big shots down the stretch for the victory," said Coach Appleby.

The Ewing Tigers were defeated by the North Central Knights on Tuesday, Jan 24  by a score of 66-49.  The Tigers led after one quarter of play 14-12, but were out scored 18-5 in the second quarter and trailed by 11 at the halftime break.  The Tigers came out hot and scored 22 points in the third quarter, but the Knights answered every Tiger run with some big buckets to maintain control of the ballgame.  Damian Summers led the way for the Tigers with 14 points and six assists.  Also in double figures for the Tigers were Robert Nordby and Ben Ramold with 10 points each.  Nordby also pulled down eight rebounds on the night.  Jake Walton scored eight points for the Tigers while Blake Cunningham chipped in with seven.

“North Central dominated us on the boards throughout the ballgame and we did a very poor job defensively on the night.  It was much too easy for North Central to score on the offensive end of the floor.  Offensively, we were inconsistent in this ballgame, we did not turn the ball over, but did not shoot the ball well in the first half and relied too heavily on the three -point shot.  We made a nice run to get back in the ballgame in the third quarter, but were unable to get enough stops defensively to turn the game around,” commented  coach Greg Appleby.
