The Stuart Broncos were a little late to the party this year but they made a great impression when they took center stage. Last Tuesday, Jan. 6, the Broncos traveled to their first game of the new year, being Anselmo-Merna. The Broncos kicked off the competition by pulling ahead 14-4 to leave the Coyotes in the dust. The Broncos kept the pace up throughout. With every point the Coyotes squeezed in, the Broncos answered back in spades. By the end, the Broncos squashed their opponent for their first victory of 2026. Kayde Ramm took charge with 16 points, shooting one of four two-pointers for 25% and five of 13 three-pointers for 38%, as well as seven rebounds and four steals; Drew Schmaderer had 12 points and 12 rebounds; Trey Wallinger had eight points and six rebounds; Kaige Krieger had eight points; and Nigel Addison had six points and three steals. This was an intense back-and-forth match, but the Broncos managed to draw first blood. It went to the Spartans in the second, who gave the Broncos a taste of their own medicine. They took charge and ran until the Broncos stopped them dead in their tracks in the fourth. The Broncos were determined to make a comeback, but when the buzzer ended all, the scoreboard read 37-37. Unfortunately the Broncos dropped the ball in this crucial moment and they were dropped quickly 13-2 by their opponent. Schmaderer took the top spot with 13 points, 10 rebounds and three steals; Ramm was right behind with 12 points and six steals; Wallinger had eight points and four rebounds; Krieger had five points; and Wallinger had four rebounds. With their recent defeat, the Broncos upped their play against the Warriors. The boys came out the gate with a fire, pulling ahead 22-2 to bring their opponent to their knees. Another 15-point advantage in the second brought the Warriors crashing down harder. A tie in the third all but sealed their fate. The Broncos were humbled in the finale, but their huge performance from the start granted them the easy victory. Ramm pulled ahead again with 17 points, six rebounds and four steals; Schmaderer had 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals; Krieger had seven points; Wallinger had seven points and six rebounds; Connot had six points and four steals; and Lane Boelter and Addison had five rebounds each.
