It should come as no surprise when last week the St. Mary's Cardinals boys claimed another victory to their name. They hosted Cedar Catholic Tuesday, Jan. 20 and beat them out 79-51. Both teams went full offensive to start with, but it would be the Cardinals who would prevail 24-17. The boys kept the energy flowing, answering back in spades for any baskets the opponent managed to sneak past them. The finale gave the Trojans some time in the spotlight, but it came far too late. The Cards were the uncontested champions this time around. Ben Barlow killed it with 25 points, shooting two of six three-pointers for 33% and six of seven two-pointers for 86%, as well as five rebounds and two steals; Gage Hedstrom had 20 points, shooting four of nine three-pointers for 44% and four of six three-pointers for 67%, as well as five rebounds and three steals; Lane Bybee had 14 points, three rebounds and two steals; Logan Brabec had eight points, five rebounds and one steal; Eli Banks had five points, 10 rebounds and one steal; James Eby had three points, one rebound and one steal; Max Berg had two points and three rebounds; Drake Berg had two points and two rebounds; Xzavier Parks had one rebound; and Memphis Brabec had one steal.
