St. Mary's Boys and Girls Yet To Be Defeated This Season

Dec 14, 2022 (0)

The St. Mary's Cardinal boys and girls hosted the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars. All of the teams performed well, but the yet to be defeated St. Mary's boys and girls came out on top yet again.

The boys began with a booming start, letting their opponent know they were there to win. Quarter one was claimed by the Cards easily. The second wasn't so easy however. This is when the Cougars showed they weren't playing around either, putting forth 15 points and limiting the Cards to only six. The Cougars were now only 10 points way from tieing up the score.

In the third and fourth quarters, however, the Cards mixed an impressive blend of offense and defense and left the Cougars in the dust.

Gage Hedstrom stealing the show with an impressive 32 points, shooting four of six three pointers for 67 percent and eight of 18 two pointers for 44 points, as well as five rebounds; Dalton Alder eight kills and four rebounds; Isaac Everitt seven points and 12 rebounds; Carson Dannenbring seven points and one rebound; Sam Barlow two points and four rebounds; Wyatt Scofield three rebounds; Risken Dawson two rebounds; and Kyle Pribil one rebound.

The Lady Cardinal's match could hardly have come any closer, with the end scores only being three small points away.

Both teams were on fire at the beginning, but the Cougars managed to beat the Cardinals by just four points. The next quarter the Cards sprang into action, seizing the opportunity to even up the score. With both teams now at 34 points, it was anybody's guess who would be crowned the victor.

In the third quarter, the Card's pressure was too much for the Cougars, ending the round in a three point advantage. Quarter four ended in a tie, allowing the Cardinals to walk away with yet another win to their name.

Mya Hedstrom led the team with 15 points, shooting one of three in three pointers for 33 percent and four of four in two pointers for 100 percent, as well as six rebounds; Mya Hedstrom 13 points and 13 rebounds; Lorissa Reiman 13 points and eight rebounds; Alissa Brabec 10 points and three rebounds; Gracie Williamson eight points and three rebounds; Annabelle Balow three rebounds; and Ryanne Pistulka one rebound.
