Shamrocks Win Districts On Sunday

 District Champions - The O'Neill Shamrocks won the 18 and under district tournament on Sunday.   The O'Neill Lady Shamrock softball team has earned another district championship this past Sunday winning three games to take the crown.

The early game saw the Shamrocks open with a barn burner game winning over the Atkinson Blaze by a score of 10-1. The Shamrock defense was too much and the Blaze could only get one runner around to home in answer to the Shamrock's 10 runs.

The next game at 2:15 placed the girls against Winside, a tough opponent. The game was tough but the Shamrocks got in a couple of runs only to be answered by Winside bringing in four runners. The Shamrocks were down till the sixth inning when a triple gave the Shamrocks a one run lead which held and put them in the finals.

The final game held Sunday evening put the girls against the Atkinson Blaze who fought their way back to the championship.

The Shamrocks opened up strong putting numerous runs up. The Blaze ended up getting nine runners around but the Shamrocks determination gave them 11 for the title.
