St. Mary's Trounces North Central 38-22

The St. Mary's Cardinals traveled to Springview to take on a salty North Central team last Friday evening. The Cards came out on top with a 38-22 win over the Knights.

The Cards took first lead on a seven yard touchdown by Jared Tomjack to put them up by eight for the first quarter. The Knights came out fighting when Tyler Knox hit Trevor Ferguson on a quick five yard touchdown pass and following the conversion the score was tied 8-8.

The Knights took the lead in the second quarter when Knox hit Ferguson for a 70 yard touchdown and the Knights went up 16-8. The Cards responded with two touchdowns in the second with Kyle Regan hitting Ty Eiler on a 18 yard touchdown catch and then a 20 yard touchdown catch to secure the halftime lead 24-16.

The Cards came out in the second half and knocked off two touchdowns. Regan hit Connor Connot on a 30 yard touchdown pass and then Regan himself ran in a short two yarder for the Cards to put them up 38-16.

The Knights finished the game with one more venture into the end zone on a 31 yard touchdown pass from Kyle Jackman to Tyler Knox and the conversion pass was incomplete.

The fourth quarter was scoreless for both squads with the Cards claiming victory. The Cardinals are now 4-1 and the Knights are 1-4 on the season.

Top rusher for the Cards was Jared Tomjack with 97 yards, top receiver was Ty Eiler with six catches for 118 yards and top defensive player was Eiler with 12 tackles. Kyle Regan threw 13 for 21 for 210 yards on the night.
