Elkhorn — Paul Ziska, 84, of Elkhorn, formerly of Stuart, O'Neill and Carroll, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026 at Marquis Place in Elkhorn. Visitation was held Tuesdau, Feb. 3, 2026 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Omaha. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2026 at the funeral home in Omaha. Burial was in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. Memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association in Paul's name. Born on Aug. 20, 1941, in Stuart, Paul was the son of Joseph and Margaret (Gaughenbaugh) Ziska. He was raised on a ranch near O'Neill. Paul attended St. Mary's Academy, where he played as a guard on the undefeated 8-man football team that won the state championship in 1958. He graduated from St. Mary's in 1959. He earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Nebraska in 1964. Paul spent his career in the insurance industry and eventually opened his own insurance agency in Carroll, Iowa, retiring in 2018. He also served in the Nebraska National Air Guard beginning in 1964 and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1989. Throughout his life, he continued to raise cattle on the ranch where he grew up. Paul is survived by his three children: Julie Trimble and granddaughters Emily and Madelyn; Michele (Brian) Aschoff and granddaughters Ava and Addison; and Holly (Chris) Stockman and grandsons Alex and Tyler, all of Elkhorn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister JoAnn Carlson and his grandson Zachery Trimble.
