power outage was caused by this tree Sunday evening. The tree fell into the power lines at about 7th and Tipperary.

Parts of O'Neill were in the dark Sunday evening as a result of a tree falling on the power lines in the north east part of town.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday evening a brief storm came through O'Neill dumping 2.89 inches of rain when it was all done and toppling a tree into the power lines at 7th and Tipperary. The tree broke two of three phases on a primary feeder line. "The power outage which lasted over two hours affected O'Neill residents North of Highway 20 and East of Second Street. All NPPD customers power were restored by 11:15 p.m. O'Neill is served by four feeder lines. Only one of the feeder lines was knocked out," stated Mike Marvin, NPPD Distribution Supervisor. Marvin also wanted to make the public aware that downed power lines are dangerous and to stay away from them. Downed power lines should be reported to NPPD or the local authorities.
