O'Neill Eagles Upset Central City  47-7

The O'Neill Eagles have great reason to celebrate after last Friday's homecoming victory over Central City winning 47-7. For the Eagles this is a huge morale boosting victory sticking it to a top 10 rated team.

"The O'Neill Eagles had a great game on Friday night upsetting a top team in C-1 in the state 47-7.  We started out the game creating many turnovers and converting off of them.  We started out by jumping on them early and continued throughout the remainder of the game.  This was a pleasant surprise considering the outcome of last week's game.  The past two weeks were like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde and I like the team that showed up last week a lot more,” commented Coach Eichelberger.

This week we will need to continue to improve on what we started last Friday.  We will play a very good Ord team. It  may not show it with their record, but they have a very fast, scrappy and well-coached team.  We need to stay extremely focused this week in order to compete after having a big win," said Coach  Eichelberger.

Leading the Eagle offense was Tate Laursen with 17 carries for 107 yards and one touchdown, Angel Rodriguez with seven carries for 87 yards and one touchdown, Michael Hedlund with 10 carries for 52 yards and three touchdowns, and David Fox with six carries for 19 yards. Leading receivers for the Eagles were Tyler Knopp with three receptions for 77 yards and one touchdown, Angel Rodriguez with one reception for 23 yards and Tad Fry with one reception for 5 yards and one touchdown.

Michael Hedlund threw seven for nine and two touchdowns and one two-point conversion.

Leading the defense was Tate Laursen with 11 tackles followed by Dave Fox with 10.
