The O'Neill Eagles wrapped up a strong season by competing against the state's best at the NSAA Class C State Track & Field Championships, with both the boys and girls squads delivering memorable performances and setting new school records on Nebraska's biggest stage.

Leading the way for the O'Neill girls was senior Mariah Kallhoff, who earned runner-up honors in the shot put. Kallhoff uncorked a throw of 40 feet, 7½ inches to claim second place and bring home the Eagles' lone girls medal of the meet. Her standout finish capped an impressive season in the throwing circle.

The Eagles girls team also saw several athletes qualify and compete among the state's top competitors. Serena Chavez represented O'Neill in the triple jump, while Mady Heiss competed in the long jump. Blakely Sudbeck cleared her way into the high jump competition, and Kiarra Kennedy doubled up by competing in the 1600-meter run.

O'Neill's 4x800-meter relay team of Kiarra Kennedy, Raegan Kaufman, Hannah Hilker, and Mollie Corkle also took to the state track, finishing out a strong postseason run after qualifying through districts.

As a team, the O'Neill girls placed 21st overall in Class C.

On the boys side, the Eagles put together an outstanding state meet highlighted by three medal-winning performances and two new school records.

Ryker Sudbeck earned an individual medal in the 400-meter dash, placing eighth with a time of 50.61 seconds against a loaded Class C field.

The boys 4x100-meter relay sprinted to a fifth-place finish while rewriting the school record books. The team of Colten Shoemaker, Ryker Sudbeck, Maguire Heiss, and Porter Mathews clocked a blazing 43.19, setting a new O'Neill school record and earning all-state medals.
