OHS Eagles Sneak Out Win Against Ainsworth

OHS' BRAXEN EICHELBERGER outmaneuvers the Huskies' Ryan Staehr in last Saturday's away game.

After a long patch of tough games this season, the OHS Eagles were given a break in last week's play.

It was last Thursday, Jan. 15, when the Eagles invited the struggling 3-12 Ainsworth Bulldogs. 

The Eagles managed a major head-start, putting up 18 points while holding their opponent down six points. At this, the Eagles kept a consistent pace, answering for every one of the Bulldogs' baskets. It was a fairly even match-up, but the Eagles always held the advantage up to the end.

Ryder Kelly led the offensive with 13 points and one rebound, shooting three of five three-pointers for 60% and two of three two-pointers for 67%, as well as one rebound; Turner Heiss had 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals; Porter Mathews had 11 points, eight rebounds and one steal; Braxen Eichelberger had nine points and three rebounds; Nate Brown had four points, three rebounds and three steals; Maquire Heiss had four points; Cooper McKay had one rebound and two steals; and Zachery Buller had one steal.

A few days later, on Saturday, the boys received a hard dose of reality when they were visited by Aurora.

Right off the bat, the Huskies put the Eagles in a tough spot, forcing them to play catch-up early on. Gradually, the Eagles fell behind further and further, never being able to recover. They made one final advancement in the finale, but were still cut short. When all was said and done, the Eagles were forced to submit to the Huskies' dominance.

Turner Heiss put up 12 points, shooting six of 11 two-pointers for 55%, as well as three rebounds; Eichelberger had 10 points and two steals; Mathews had seven points, three rebounds and three steals; M. Heiss had seven points and one steal; Kelly had five points and two rebounds; Colten Shoemaker had four points and four rebounds; Brock Latzel had two points and one rebound; Brown had two rebounds; and Buller had one rebound.
